Congratulations on your new tattoo from New Generation Ink! To ensure the longevity, vibrancy, and optimal healing of your tattoo, follow our complete, step-by-step aftercare plan.
Proper care during the healing process is essential to showcase your artwork in all its glory for years to come.
Leave the Bandage On: Your artist will cover your tattoo with a bandage. Leave it on for a 1-2 hours to protect it from airborne bacteria.
Second-Skin users: Please scroll down to find the steps you need to follow, and remember to proceed with the remaining aftercare steps as well.
Wash Your Hands: Before touching your tattoo, wash your hands thoroughly with mild soap and water.
Gently Cleanse: After removing the bandage, gently cleanse your tattoo with lukewarm water and a mild, fragrance-free soap. Use your fingertips or a clean, soft cloth to avoid irritation.
Pat Dry: Gently pat your tattoo dry with a clean paper towel or let it air dry. Avoid rubbing or using a rough towel.
Apply Tattoo-Friendly Moisturizer: Once your tattoo is dry, apply a thin layer of our recommended tattoo balm. Our balm is specially formulated to aid in healing and maintain vibrant ink colors.
*You should cleanse and use tattoo balm 2-4 times a day.
Avoid Scratching or Picking: It's normal for your tattoo to itch during the healing process. However, resist the urge to scratch or pick at the scabs, as this can damage the healing skin and affect the final result.
Stay Hydrated: Drink plenty of water to promote healthy skin and aid in the healing process.
Limit Sun Exposure: Direct sunlight can fade your tattoo and hinder the healing process. For the first two weeks, avoid exposing your tattoo to the sun. Afterward, continue to protect your tattoo from the sun's UV rays using clothing or sunscreen.
Choose Loose Clothing: Wear loose-fitting clothing that won't rub against your tattoo. Tight clothing can cause friction and irritation.
Skip Pools, Hot Tubs, Baths and long showers: During the initial healing period (about two weeks), avoid submerging your tattoo in pools, hot tubs, or baths. Prolonged exposure to water can lead to infection and fading.
*Additionally, be cautious about using water that's too hot during showers, as excessive heat can also affect the healing process.
Minimize Intense Exercise: For the first week, avoid intense exercise that leads to heavy sweating. Sweat can irritate the tattooed area and slow down the healing process.
Follow-Up Consultation: If you have any concerns during the healing process, don't hesitate to reach out to us. We're here to support you and ensure your tattoo heals beautifully.
Hydrate Your Skin: Even after your tattoo has healed, moisturize your skin regularly to maintain its health and vibrancy.
Protect from the Sun: Continue to protect your tattoo from the sun's UV rays to prevent fading.
Share Your Experience: Show off your artwork and share your experience with New Generation Ink on social media. Feel free to tag us, we'd love to see your tattoo journey!
Our second skin is a waterproof and breathable film that acts as a shield, aiding in the rejection of bacteria while promoting optimal healing. To ensure a successful healing process, follow these steps:
1. Initial Application: Our skilled tattoo artists will apply the first layer, which you'll keep on for 24-48 hours. These hours are crucial for the healing process.
2. Client Application: After the initial period, apply the provided Dermalize Protective Tattoo Film yourself. Remember to wash your hands before gently removing the film under lukewarm water or during a shower. Leave the film on for an additional 3-4 days, with a minimum of 4 days advised for optimal results.
Maintenance: If the film happens to come off too soon or gets quite dirty, consider removing it under a shower or with the use of warm water.
Once the recommended use of the film is complete, continue following our remaining aftercare steps to ensure your tattoo heals beautifully.
For vibrant and lasting tattoos, follow a routine: cleanse and apply tattoo balm 2-4 times daily. After showering, when you're at work or school, and before bed are great moments. This regimen supports healing, preserves ink vibrancy, and ensures your tattoo looks its best.
Remember, your tattoo is an investment in wearable art. By following this aftercare plan, you're not only preserving the beauty of your tattoo but also embracing the commitment to self-expression.
